40+ years of playing guitar which he started in the early 80’s. He learned to play guitar on his own after just two lessons by jamming along with albums by such artists from Stevie Ray Vaughan & DT to Jimi Hendrix, Albert Collin’s and more. His devotion to learning what it takes to play and perform at a higher level is his passion. He’s had the opportunity to play and record with musicians from all walks of life. Performances span across local clubs, bars, concert halls, The House of Blues and Humphries out door concert stage. He brings his driving guitar style and vocals to The Back Alley Trio with energy, stage presence and a his love for entertaining.

A.K.A John J. Rambo is a drummer and performer whose style blends blues, rock, jazz, and the raw energy of punk rock. John found rhythm early, first drumming on coffee cans and oatmeal boxes before studying music through school orchestra, jazz band, and marching band, later performing with the Florida Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps, where he sharpened the precision, discipline, and chops he still brings to his playing today. Over the decades, he has built a reputation as a versatile, hardworking drummer with extensive live performance experience spanning styles from Irish jigs and jazz to rock and blues, performing with numerous bands throughout the San Diego music scene. Today, John brings decades of experience, groove, and musicality to Back Alley Trio performances.

Jeff “Bus Driver” Herriman, Bass man. He started playing Bass in 1963 Detroit Michigan and learned bass basics from Steve Fava, who published many how to play courses at that time. He performed with the Ashmolean Quintet for a few years while playing venues from Detroit to Chicago. Years later, Jeff joined the school of Blues in San Jose, CA. Studying under Frank DeRose another Blues Bass icon inspired Jeff to develop his unique style of playing that gives him joy, especially when performing. Jeff enjoys playing and laughing with fellow band members and hopes everyone can enjoy the music as much as they do!
